What is a ribbon?
Ribbon refers to a kind of delicate hand-made ribbon. Ribbons of different colors represent different meanings. Ribbons are strips of flexible material, usually made of cloth, but can also be made of plastic or metal. Ribbons are generally used for tying objects, connecting two objects together. Cloth, especially silk ribbons, are generally associated with clothing, but can also be used for decoration, commemoration or symbolism. Cultures around the world have also used ribbons on their hair, on their bodies, and even on pets or buildings. Ribbons are also used as decorations for wrapping gifts. Typewriters and dot-matrix printers use dyed ribbons to store ink.
